Air Fryer Chips

If chips are among your favorite guilty pleasures, then a healthy way of eating might be challenging. Owners of air fryers, however, are discovering that they don’t have to give up the chips they crave while eating a nutrient-rich diet. Air fryer chips provide an easy, quick, and delicious way to get your chip fix.

Tossed in your favorite oils with a dash of salt and pepper, these chips are every bit as delicious as the greasy, fattening, salt-loaded store varieties. Plus, these chips will keep for several days when stored in air-tight containers.

Below, you will find Air Frying’s favorite chips to prepare at home.

Lightly Salted Potato Chips

Served with sandwiches, enjoyed at summer cookouts, and dunked in delicious dips, I can’t think of anyone who doesn’t appreciate the crispy perfection of a lightly salted potato chip. Unfortunately, they also come with a price. With issues like child obesity, diabetes, heart disease, and high cholesterol on the rise, it’s difficult to enjoy a food that is so bad for your health.

But I have great news!

You can enjoy a side of chips with your favorite healthy wrap or sandwich with half the fat and salt. Just air fry them from the comfort of your own kitchen. You’ll consume half the fat and get all the nutrients the humble potato has to offer!

Ingredients:

  • 4-5 baking-style potatoes
  • 1 Tbs. Vegetable Oil (I use olive)
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Optional: your favorite seasonings, like Ranch, or cheddar.
  • Cooking Spray (if needed)

Directions:

  • Peel potatoes and slice into thin coins. Use a vegetable slicer for faster results.
  • Place sliced potato rounds in a large bowl.
  • Toss with oil.
  • Add salt, pepper, and seasonings, and toss together.
  • If needed for your air fryer brand, mist the basket with cooking spray.
  • Transfer potatoes to your air fryer basket.
  • Cook at 390 degrees for 20 minutes, shaking every 5-7 minutes. If the potatoes are not as crispy as you’d like, cook for an additional 5-8 minutes.

Healthy Sweet Potato Chips

Filled with potassium, essential vitamins, and fiber, sweet potatoes are as diverse as they are healthy. One of our favorite ways to enjoy this nutrient-rich vegetable is to air fry sweet potato chips.

Slightly sweet, these yams taste great with a simple sprinkle of salt or a more savory pinch of cumin. You can also enhance their already sweet flavor with our favorite combo–coconut oil, salt, cinnamon, and a dash of brown sugar.

Air Frying sweet potato chips is a great way for you–and all the picky eaters in your home–to enjoy your veggies without realizing the food is packed with health benefits.

  • 1 Tbs. Coconut oil, melted (this doesn’t take long!)

Directions:

Crispy Tortilla Chips

Of all the foods I have ever tasted, my number one trigger food is a basket of straight-from-the-fryer tortillas chips with a side of chunky guacamole or spicy salsa. Unfortunately, I have trouble stopping at just a few and try to limit my chip consumption to every once in a while.

However, by air frying tortilla chips, I can still indulge in my favorite snack without worrying about unhealthy oils, additives, or saturated fat. Fried in vegetable oil, olive oil, or avocado oil, these chips are a hit on game day, at parties, or any time you want to treat yourself.

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of 2-6 inch corn tortillas
  • 1 Tbs Avocado Oil
  • Sea salt or Seasoned salt to taste
  • Optional: cooking spray

Directions :

  • Cut the tortillas into triangles.
  • Brush oil onto each triangle and sprinkle lightly with salt.
  • Transfer tortilla triangles to your air fryer basket. (You can spray the basket with cooking spray if you’d like)
  • Cook at 350 degrees for 8 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through.
