If you own an air fryer, then you know that there are a slew of air frying accessories on the market claiming to make your life easier. Air fryer basket liners are no exception. But are they worth it, or are they just another gimmick? In the following article, we at airfrying.net will report our experience with air fryer basket liners and let you know the pros and cons of these liners.

Air Fryer Basket Liners: What’s the Point?

The appeal of basket liners is a no-brainer.

These liners, typically made of parchment paper, fit nicely into the bottom of your air fryer and are marketed to prevent food from sticking to the bottom of the basket. In addition, the parchment or silicon liners should also prevent burning. The function is a lot like using them in the oven so you don’t scorch the bottoms of your cookies!  Finally, most companies also claim that liners make clean-up easier.

But Do They Work?

Overall, I would say yes.

Personally, I love to use the basket liners, especially when I’m air frying “baked” goods or meats. I had never used them before, but we were lucky enough to receive a free pack, and I will definitely buy them again when I am out.

The reasoning behind this is two-fold.

First, I have found that parchment basket liners do prevent food from sticking to the bottom of the basket. This is especially true when cooking meats. For example, when air frying chicken wings, I have found that the meat sticks to the bottom. The result is a messy air fryer basket with chicken crusted down in the ventilation holes of the basket. In addition, if you use marinades or sticky sauces when cooking, the parchment helps reduce sticking.

Second, basket liners prevent burning. Baked goods like cookies and pastries can still brown on the bottoms, and the liners are an easier and healthier alternative than greasing the basket with shortening.

Finally, air fryer basket liners do make clean-up easier, depending upon what food you’re cooking. There will still be clean-up involved with air frying foods like meats. However, the basket liners prevent food from sticking to the basket, which does reduce scrubbing time. For some foods, like cookies or baked potatoes, the liner keeps the basket clean throughout the cooking process, requiring only a rinse after use.

Where Do I Find Them?

I’m a shameless amazon prime junkie, and we purchase the majority of our accessories online. Luckily, there are several different options for basket liners that come in various shapes, sizes, and materials. The most popular are parchment, unbleached paper, bamboo, and silicon.  Basically, whatever your needs, whatever model of air fryer you own, there are liners for it!

Here are a few we recommend:

Love hot dogs? How about pulled-pork barbecue? Well, we decided to combine two of our favorite foods into a delicious gourmet hot dog recipe perfectly prepared in your very own air fryer! This one is hands-down my favorite hot dog, so I am pleased to present our Air Fryer Pulled Pork Barbecue Hot Dog!

Why a Barbecue Hot Dog?

Simple. It’s delicious!

The sweet and smoky flavors of the barbecue sauce and pork provide the perfect topping to the average hot dog. The result is a savory hot dog that will soon become a favorite family treat.

Plus, the hot dogs and buns (if you like them toasted) can be easily and efficiently prepared in the air fryer, which prevents you from standing outside in the summer heat over a hot grill or getting soaked if you’re craving one of these delicious dawgs in the middle of a downpour.

Preparing the Barbecue

Now, some people are crazy about barbecue and are extremely passionate about smoking the pork, creating the perfect sauce, and pairing it with the perfect sides. For our purposes and to expedite the cooking process, we used store-bought pulled pork. However, if you are a  barbecue snob, you are perfectly welcome to smoke your own and make a day of it!

Finishing Touches

My favorite way to eat these hot dogs is to add coleslaw on top of the barbecue to add a cool and crunchy texture. However, if you’re not a fan of slaw, then these dawgs are delicious on their own. Pair with your favorite baked beans for a simple, delicious meal prepared in minutes.

Pulled Pork Barbecue Hot Dog

  • 1 package Premade Pulled Pork
  • 4 hot dogs Hot Dogs
  • 4 buns Hot Dog Buns
  1. We used pre-made pulled pork or you could make your own. Ours required heating in the air fryer for 8 minutes at 350° F

  2. Cut 3 slices diagonal across the hot dog.

  3. Put hot dogs in air fryer basket. Cook for 5 minutes at 400° F. To add a little extra cook on them we put 3 diagonal slices down the hot dog before cooking.

  4. Put hot dog on bun and top with pulled pork. Enjoy!

With the upcoming summer holidays in mind, we thought it only fitting to try some gourmet flavors to spice up the average summer hot dog. And if you are a cheese lover, this Air Fryer St. Louis Hot Dog is one of our favorites.

Air Fryer St. Louis Hot Dog

When I first came across this recipe, I wasn’t sure about the idea of putting marinara sauce on a hot dog. I was afraid the flavor, even with the cheese variety, would be too tangy for an enjoyable hot dog.

However, the addition of the liquid smoke takes the edge off the tangy marinara sauce and complements the flavor of the hot dog.

Add the Cheese, please

And, let’s face it, the combination of white cheddar, swiss, and provolone cheeses only enhances the delicious smoky flavor of this delicious dawg.

This is the perfect option for a different spin on a Saturday afternoon meal or a hot dog bar at your next family gathering.

Air Fryer St Louis Hot Dog

  • 1 cup shredded white cheddar
  • 1/2 cup shredded swiss
  • 1/2 cup shredded provolone
  • Marinara Sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid smoke
  1. Use cheeses to make a homemade provel cheese. We followed instructions from https://lifeinaskillet.com/2013/09/homemade-provel-cheese

  2. Cook hot dog in air fryer at 400° F for 5 minutes

  3. Put hot dog in bun. Place provel cheese on top.

  4. Put back into air fryer for 1 minute.

  5. Add Marinara sauce to top. Plate and Enjoy!

One of my favorite foods to eat with dinner, a bowl of soup or chili, or even just for a snack is cornbread muffins. While it would be nice to break out the seasoned iron skillet and make a whole batch, it’s much more convenient to make these quick and delicious air fryer cornbread muffins.

Why Air Fryer Cornbread Muffins?

It’s faster and easier!

Whether you like your cornbread basic or with some delicious added ingredients like red and green bell peppers, all you need for your air fryer is your favorite mix, some muffin liners, and an air fryer safe muffin pan. The air fryer’s rapid air technology cooks these delicious muffins in a fraction of the time it takes in the skillet or oven.

I’ve had cornbread just about every way possible, including the oven, an iron skillet, and even once during a snow storm and power outage, on the propane grill! However, cooking these cornbread muffins in the air fryer is perfect for a quick weeknight side to accompany your dinner.

Cornbread Muffins

  • 2 cups self-rising white cornmeal (heaping cups)
  • 1/4 Cup Milk
  • 1/2 Cup green bell pepper (chopped)
  • 1/2 Cup chopped oinion
  • 1 Cup cheddar cheese (shredded)
  • 1 can creamed corn (8 oz can)
  • 1/4 Cup vegetable oil
  1. Mix together all ingredients. Pour into silicon cupcake holders and place in air fryer basket.

  2. Cook at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.

  3. Depending upon your air fryer’s capacity, you can make in batches.
