I tend to get excited over grilled cheese sandwiches. Call me crazy, but there’s just something nostalgic and comforting about a piping hot grilled cheese sandwich with a side of your favorite soup on a cold winter day. I will admit that I’ve tried a lot of grilled cheese, but this air fryer bacon avocado grilled cheese sandwich is, by far, my absolute favorite.
The real secret here, I think, is the bread. If you are a sourdough lover, then, by all means, toast this baby up on buttered sourdough bread. But not everyone is a fan. The second best option is brioche, which is like dessert in and of itself. Whichever bread you choose, it combines perfectly with smoky applewood bacon, avocado slices (or guacamole for the truly adventurous), and of course, cheese.
Speaking of cheese, the best cheeses to use for this air fryer bacon avocado grilled cheese sandwich is either Monterey Jack or Jalapeno Jack cheese. If you’re not a big fan of added heat, then skip the jalapeno cheese and opt instead for the milder option. However, if you are a fan of spicy food and tend to be more adventurous in your food selections, then, by all means, add the heat. You may even want to top with a few green chilies in addition to the avocado, bacon, and tomato.
This sandwich is to die for. I’m not kidding. You won’t be sorry you tried this one. Pair it with black bean or chicken tortilla soup and enjoy!

This is one of the best grilled cheese sandwiches we have ever had. The cheese with the salt from the bacon and the soft and crunchy textures make this a great combination for a grilled cheese!
- 2 slices cheese (we recommend Monterey jack or jalapeno jack)
- 2 slices tomato
- 3 slices avocado
- 2 slices bacon pre-cooked
- 2 slices bread (we used brioche, highly recommended)
- 2 tsp no-salt butter

Pre-cook bacon, either in your skillet or you can follow our <a href="https://airfrying.net/how-cook-bacon-in-an-air-fryer/">bacon air frying recipe</a>

Butter one side of each slice of bread.

Place slices of cheese on the non-buttered side of one piece of bread - cover well.

Place slices of tomato, bacon, and avocado on top of the cheese. (To simplify this process, use pre-made guacamole instead of slices of avocado.)

Place the second slice of bread on top with buttered side out.

Place in air fryer and cook at 400º F for 2 minutes.

Flip sandwich and cook at 400º F for another 2 minutes.
