When you begin your holiday baking this year, don’t discount the handy dandy air fryer that stands proudly on your counter. In our house, we bake for all occasions, and Halloween is no exception. So really, my holiday baking begins at the end of September with cookies and quick breads perfect for fall. So when the itch to bake cookies hits you, give yourself some extra room by utilizing your air fryer. While you’ll have to reduce your cooking time slightly, baking these air fryer cookies can save time and space.
Why Make Air Fryer Cookies?
While it isn’t ideal to use your air fryer for the sole purpose of baking cookies, I find that it is helpful when used alongside your oven. If you’re a busy mom who finds herself tasked with baking for the family and for school events, then your air fryer will make quick work of baking a large number of cookies.
In short, if you are tasked with baking three or four dozen cookies, bake three dozen in the oven, and use your air fryer for the dozen that remain. You will save at least 15 minutes of baking time if you bake and air fry the cookies at the same time. With that said, you will have to adjust the time setting and temperature setting on your air fryer to achieve the same type of bake your oven provides. For example, if the baking instructions say to cook at 350 for 10-12 minutes, then cut the temperature and time down on the air fryer.
Decorate for an even fancier sugar cookie.
Ice with orange icing to make a pumpkin, or even with green trees for Christmas, or a candle for birthday. Decorate your cookies as you see fit. Whether it be colored sprinkles or food coloring, you can make the simple sugar cookie into a holiday cookie.
