As a busy mom who loves to prepare delicious, healthy meals for my family, I have fully embraced the health benefits of air frying. A great time-saver, I can air fry a batch of healthy roasted potatoes and chicken breasts in the same amount of time it would take to wait out the rush-hour drive-thru lines at local fast food establishments. I own two air fryers, and I have to say that with its simple, user-friendly design, the Chefman RJ38-P1 Air Fryer is my favorite so far. As someone who loathes small appliances that clutter up my counter space, this compact miracle machine is easily stored, lightweight, and dishwasher safe, which makes keeping a tidy kitchen an easy task.

- Dishwasher safe parts for quick and easy cleanup
- Auto shut-off in the event of basket removal

The first thing I noticed about this air fryer is how simple it is to operate. With a push-button timer, temperature settings, simple pause/stop button, and digital display screen, this product keeps things hassle-free, unlike some of the other air fryers I’ve tried that are confusing and difficult to operate. In the kitchen, I enjoy straight-forward, user-friendly products, and to my delight, the Chefman provided frustration-free operation.
Additional qualities I appreciated about the Chefman included the rapid-air technology and the quiet, odor-free cooking process. I have a four-year-old son who loves to help Mommy cook but is also sensitive to loud, prolonged noises. With only a quiet hum from the Chefman, my son stood on a chair at the counter and counted down the minutes along with the digital timer.
Additionally, the food odor in my kitchen was greatly reduced in contrast to my other air fryer, which is definitely an added bonus. In our house, we love strong flavors provided by ingredients like garlic and onion, but those are not aromas I want lingering in the kitchen, especially when entertaining guests. Though I haven’t tried cooking fresh salmon or tuna in the Chefman yet, I imagine the integrated air filter will leave my kitchen smelling more like the lemon-scented plug-ins I prefer than a fisherman’s dock.
As far as the healthy, crisp results I expect from an air fryer, I found the Chefman to be comparable to others I have tried. With a 2.5 L basket, we can easily cook enough sweet potato fries, seasoned broccoli, or protein to feed our family of three. However, if you have a larger family or entertain larger groups, you might have to prepare your air fried food in a couple of batches. So far, everything I have made in the Chefman has cooked quickly and evenly without to use of excessive oil, which I assume can be attributed to the rapid air technology.
The Chefman RJ38-P1 Air Fryer is sturdy, durable, and a nice size with a sleek shape that fits nicely on the countertop without drawing too much attention. The removable basket and bowl slide smoothly in and out of the fryer every time, which is another refreshing feature of this machine. I tend to get frustrated with models that require any wiggling, lifting, or adjustments in order to slide the basket into place, so the easy placement and removal of parts is a quality I value.
I also like the adjustable timer on the Chefman, which prevents overcooking. As a parent, I am easily distracted by phone calls, laundry, toddlers, and other household tasks that call me away from the kitchen. The fact that the Chefman cools automatically once time is up has saved many dinners from overcooking.
Ease of Cleaning
Another great feature of this product is the easy-to-clean, dishwasher-safe basket, and bowl. I love dishwasher-safe products that reduce my clean-up time. If I can cook a meal for my family in less than 30 minutes, put all the dishes and cookware in the dishwasher, and move on to something else, I am a happy girl. However, with a non-stick surface, if you prefer to hand wash your basket and bowl, the mess is gone with some hot, soapy water and a couple swipes with a soft dishcloth. In short, the clean-up is fuss-free either way.
Ease of Use
With simple push-button adjustments and digital screen display, I found the Chefman air fryer easy to use compared to other air fryers that feature complicated digital touchscreens that often make me want to pull my hair out. Setting the temperature and cook time on this model is achieved with zero frustration, and with the timer and automatic shutoff, this product makes cooking simple.
I would also add that the smooth glide of the basket and bowl makes for a fuss-free experience when securing or removing food from the air fryer.
This model is perfect for 2-3 people. With a 2.5 L basket, I easily cook enough food for two adults and a toddler each day and have tried a variety of foods from fries to chicken wings to apple dumplings. However, if you have older children, cook for a large family, or entertain regularly, you would be better off choosing a larger model.
Overall, I found the Chefman RJ38-P1 Air Fryer to be durable, user-friendly, and with cooking results comparable to other top air fryer brands. The only drawback I found with this model is the basket size. It’s perfect for my small family, but for cooks with larger families or those who entertain guests frequently, I would recommend investing in the larger model.
